How does betting on rugby work?
There are three basic bet types in rugby betting. Money line is the simplest and involves betting on who will win the match. The other main two rugby bet types are handicap and totals betting, and these will be covered in the following two questions. We also offer tips on try scorers, and “to win by” bets too. Links to bet on each tip can be found directly under the tips themselves.
How does handicap betting work in rugby?
Handicap betting can often represent excellent value. In this type of bet, a bookmaker will give one team an advantage to make each team’s chances of victory more balanced. If France are favourites to beat Scotland, for example, they might be given a handicap of 10. If you place a handicap bet on France for this match, they must then win by more than 10 points for the bet to be successful. The opposite would be true if you were to bet on Scotland.
How does totals betting work in rugby?
Totals bets are a hugely popular part of rugby betting, and involve placing a bet on the total number of points to be scored in a match. First, the bookmaker gives a total points figure. Punters can then bet on whether they think the total number will be above or below this.
