Rangers to Win

Reason for tip

Rangers have won 11 of their last 15 away Premiership matches while St Mirren have lost four of their last seven league games at The SMISA Stadium. The Light Blues have won on their last three trips to Paisley, including twice this season, and should be able to return to winning ways on the road.

Rangers 1-0

Reason for tip

Rangers have kept three consecutive clean sheets at St Mirren’s home and have also blanked their opponents in three of their last four games away from Ibrox. The Buddies have scored in their lats four at home, but failed to net in the four prior to that, which suggests a Rangers clean sheet should be possible again. A 1-0 scoreline might be the most likely given that was how Gers’s last game in Paisley ended.

St Mirren vs Rangers Predictions

Rangers cannot afford another slip

Rangers should get the win they need to maintain a credible title challenge when they travel to Paisley to face St Mirren on Sunday afternoon.

The Light Blues have already won twice at The SMISA Stadium this season, 3-0 in October and 1-0 in January, but the stakes are now higher in the run-in.

Another slip-up like last week’s 0-0 draw in Dundee or the previous weekend’s 3-2 reverse to Ross County would mean Gers’ title prospects would no longer be in their hands and they probably have to win at Celtic Park as things stand anyway.

Streaky St Mirren set for another home loss

St Mirren have been streaky at home this season, going unbeaten in three and five-game spells before dropping three in a row in front of their own fans during the winter.

Stephen Robinson’s side then won three consecutive home games in February and March before losing 2-1 to a visiting Hears side earlier this month. In the context of recent 5-2 and 3-0 defeats away at Kilmarnock and Celtic respectively, they are not in great shape at the moment and appear likely to lose.

Rangers got back on track with a solid FA Cup semi-final win over Hearts at Hampden last weekend and will not lack the desire to get the job done here no matter what happens elsewhere on Sunday.
